Make It

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350° F. Mix yeast, water and sugar together; let it rest until it doubles in volume. Sift 4 1/4 cups flour and form a well; place melted butter, 3 eggs, 1 cup Abuelita Granulated Chocolate, cinnamon, evaporated milk and the yeast mixture into formed well. Mix all the ingredients, kneading in the grated Abuelita Chocolate and almonds until it forms a soft, smooth and elastic dough. Let it rest in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth until it doubles in volume.

Form the dough into a flat disc. Place it on a baking tray; cut a slit in the center forming a ring. Spread the dough until it almost reaches the edges of the tray. Place the dolls in the dough. Spread with a little oil and cover with a damp cloth. Let rest until the bread doubles in size.

Step 3

For the paste, beat remaining 3/4 cup Abuelita Granulated Chocolate, shortening, softened butter, sweetened condensed milk, remaining cup of flour and baking powder. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Brush dough with remaining egg. Cut 4 pieces of the paste mixture and place them on the dough. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool before serving.
